Combating Hair Loss in Men

1. Hiding hair loss

The general rule is to find a happy medium between long and short - too short and you will make the balding area stand out, too long and you will see through the hair.

Make the cute textured, uneven layers, brining it forward - this will give the appearance of volume and depth.

Celebrity Jude law does this well.

Head shapes vary, so it’s important to work out exactly where you’re balding and how to work with that, not against it. For example, if you’re thinning at the crown but not at the hairline then a short sharp buzz cut would work for you, or if you have receding hairline a side part Mad Men look would work for you – that is short back and side and longer on top.

Unfortunately, regardless of your head shape if you are losing your hair, it’s time to work at getting it short in preparation for the ultimate baldness.

2. Shaving the head

If the clean shaven look is too much for you and you’re not ready to lose it all, a buzz cut is the way to go – particularly if you are thinning on the crown or near your hairline. A buzz cut is also super easy to do yourself and maintain at home. I recommend using a tool like the VSforMen X6-Pro, it’s super easy to use as the arch follows the shape of the head and you can choose what length you want – my suggestion is to start longer and when you get used to the look go shorter each cut!

There is no way to prepare yourself – hair loss is what it is – have a stiff drink and go for it. I think there is less worry for men when they finally just let it go. Just make sure you never resort to the comb over, or the ponytail!
